Why would I go with their cheesy app just to get docked the same BS fees?! Another one I potentially qualify for has a fee structure equivalent to some of the non-CU big boys. I’ve also found that credit union tech (apps, websites, and what have you) to be about 10 years behind what the big boys offer.įinally, the fees aren’t always lower. I did some more homework and found online reviews of them to be absolutely hideous. I filled out the Contact Us form on the CU’s website, saying I wanted to open a business account, and didn’t hear squat. I qualified for one local credit union because I was employed by a public agency briefly-it was a disaster and we parted ways at the end of the six month probationary period, but apparently just working for any agency in my state for one day was enough to qualify. Some of them are pretty loose, like you have to have a child attending public school in thus-and-such county, or you need to be a parishioner at this-or-that church, but … point being, if you don’t meet them, you’re SOL.Īnd even if you do qualify, it’s still buyer beware. The one caveat that nobody ever mentions with these credit unions is that, by law, there are membership requirements. I only know one, Ally, and they didn't do business accounts last time I checked. Never used an online bank for business.I have nothing but nice things to say about them and my personal banker at the time. Wells Fargo- Extremely nice, helpful, very easy to do business with them.Like banking with them was some kind of status symbol. We had plenty of money, we were just turned off by the whole ass kissing vibe they put out. Clearly targeting a certain, upscale customer. They cherry-pick what kind of businesses they "allow" to have accounts there. I came back 3 days in a row, and that person was never in the office. Supposedly, the only person who could open a business account was out of the office. I walked into a location in my area at the time. I hated them for personal banking, and they didn't impress me for business banking. The last time I needed to open a business account for a new venture, here's what I found.
